Stories from the studio, the collections and the histories we preserve.

The Philosophy of The Studio

GS Furniture Company was founded through a shared interest in preservation, material and the quiet presence objects carry over time. Rather than beginning with new forms, the studio was drawn toward pieces that had already lived full lives, objects shaped by use, routine, adaptation and history. Working from existing foundations became both, creative and intentional choice, preserving materials and craftsmanship that might otherwise disappear with time. The work is not approached as restoration in the traditional sense, nor as an attempt to erase age or imperfection. Instead, each becomes a continuation. Original forms are preserved and carefully reinterpreted through leather, texture, proportion and hand finished detail, allowing the object to evolve while still holding onto its past. The Hacienda Collection became the first expression of this philosophy. What resonated most deeply was not a particular style, but the story of a family that preserved their home, objects and a way of life for generations, even as the world around them changed. That sense of continuity, memory became foundational to the direction of the studio. While each collection may carry a different atmosphere, material language or architectural influence, the philosophy remains consistent: preservation over replacement, transformation over reinvention and objects intended to carry presence rather than perfection. Every piece is one of one. Built slowly. Shaped by history. Continued through material and process.
